What to Bring

NOTE:

There will be a Trading Post order form for Mark Twain items that will be available by February.

  • Check this website every 2 weeks for updates and changes
  • Work clothes required during work activities is listed below
  • Limited ability to wash clothes at this time. As of today, washing facilities have not been approved.
  • Plan your packing accordingly. You will be on site a minimum of 7 days and some longer.
  • Class 3 Physical required for all participants.

"A" Uniform

  • 1 Activity Uniform at all campfire programs
  • 1 Official Field Uniform (primarily for arrival, departure, and picture taking)
Personal
  • 1 Drinking cup and strap or D-Ring to attach to your belt loop
  • 1 Eating kit containing 1 knife, 1 fork, and 1 spoon
  • 1 Flashlight and extra batteries
  • 1 Hat - wide brim preferred if sun intolerant
  • 1 Laundry bag to hold soiled clothing
  • 1 Notebook, pencil, pen, appropriate reading material
  • 1 Pack or duffel bag
  • 1 Pair of closed toe sandals for use in campsite only
  • 1 Pair of pajamas
  • 1 Pair of tennis shoes for non worksite areas/activities
  • 1 Poncho or rainwear
  • 1 Sewing kit with safety pins
  • 1 Small campstool such as a 3 or 4 legged stool as opposed to lawn chairs
  • 1 Swimming suit
  • 1 Toilet kit containing biodegradable liquid soap in a container, comb, toothbrush, metal mirror, washcloth, and toothpaste etc.
  • 1 Water Bottle (1 quart or larger) or canteen or camel pack
  • 2 Bath towels
  • 2 Hand towels
  • 2 Pairs of blue jeans for work clothes or bib overalls
  • 5 Extra pairs of polypropylene socks and work boot socks
  • 5 Scout related t-shirts or white under shirts
  • 5 Sets of underwear
  • 4 Long sleeve shirts
  • 1 Light jacket as the evenings may get cold
  • Sun protection (SPF-30)
  • Clip on sun glasses (you will be issued safety glasses to wear)
  • 1 Large bandana
  • 1 Personal first aid kit - consider Chiggers, ticks and other little critters
  • Cheap disposable camera
  • 1 Pocket knife - 4" blade or less
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • 1 Pair of leather work gloves
  • 1 Pair of work boots
    • 8" upper leather lace up boots
    • Watch website for acceptable types and places to purchase
  • Hard hat and safety glasses will be provided by the site
Sleeping
  • 1 Air mattress or sleeping pad or cot
  • 1 Ground cloth
  • 1 Pillow
  • 1 Tent - Buddy Up. There is approximately 50 square feet per participant in a tent or about the size of a 2 man Timberline tent
  • 1 Set of tent stakes and a hammer
  • Mosquito netting
  • 1 Waterproof bag for sleeping gear
  • 2 Blankets or 1 Sleeping Bag (40 degree bag)
Do Not Bring
  • No electric power on site - therefore no computers, games, boom boxes, etc.
  • No matches, lighters or other fire starting paraphernalia
  • Shorts not recommended due to the bugs as mentioned above

For Chainsaw Operators

Need to bring: Personal Protective Equipment

  1. Long sleeve shirt or jacket to wear during saw operation
  2. Boots
    • 8 Inches or higher
    • Heavy duty leather or cut resistant
    • Water repellent or waterproof
    • Non-skid sole
    • Hard toes optional

Will be supplied: Personal Protective Equipment

  1. Hard hat
  2. Eye protection
  3. Hearing protection
  4. Gloves
  5. Chaps

These items must meet standards set by the USFS
