Campus Arrival
Unlike previous conferences, NOAC 2015 will have 13 arrival sites where room keys and meal passes will be distributed. This change will allow contingents to unload their gear, disburse their buses and cars, then get settled into their housing immediately upon arrival. Following the housing check-in, guests will then be taken to one of five neighborhood orientation locations to receive their conference credentials, schedules and program materials. The region chiefs and national vice chief will provide an orientation to the MSU campus and some of the amazing program elements for the conference. Contingent photos will follow as well as distribution of any box fans pre-ordered through the trading post. “Genius Bars” and NOAC staff will be available at these neighborhood locations to help with any training, competition or program related changes.
With 13,000 guests checking into housing and going through orientation, it is critical that contingents do three things well ahead of time to ensure a smooth arrival. Failing to do any of these three things could result in significant delays in the arrival process:
1) Ensure that the names, genders and ages on your official contingent roster represent exactly who you bring to conference. Surprise substitutions or changes upon arrival will result in delays and ultimately may not be accommodated as every available bed at MSU is being used for this event. Please login to the registration system to validate that your lodge roster is accurate.
2) Ensure that official BSA Medical forms are submitted online prior to arrival and that you bring a paper copy for everyone in your contingent. Do not send the form to the NOAC registrar. Anyone who arrives without a proper Medical form will need to make their own arrangements with a private physician off campus to complete the checkup prior to receiving a room, meal pass or any program materials.
3) Ensure that anyone age 18 and over has completed the BSA’s online Youth Protection Training within two years of arrival at conference. The training must be completed and marked on the individual registration form prior to arriving on the Michigan State University campus. In addition to a printed copy of your medical, it is also recommended anyone age 18+ bring a printed copy of their youth protection completion from the online system. The Youth Protection Training can be found at www.scouting.org.
