What is a “Spark”?
You will receive a special device called a “Spark” once you arrive at NOAC. This will enable you to play the game. You don’t need to worry about that before NOAC.
How do I sign in to the Spark web portal?
Go to noac2015.org. On the left hand side of the page, click on “Spark”. A menu will drop down and select “Spark Sign In”. From there you will be taken to the Spark sign in page. Alternatively, you can go to noac.poken.com.
What is my username and password?
Your username is the email you used to sign up for NOAC with. If this is the first time you are signing in to the portal, your password is “noac”. If you have changed your password, use your changed password.
How do I change the email associated with my account or my username?
Once you log-in, hover over your name in the upper right hand corner of the page. A menu will appear; select “settings”. There will be an option on this page to change your username. Your username must be an email.

I did not receive an email from Spark, what should I do?
If you did not receive an email about Spark, we will help you access your account as soon as you arrive at NOAC. Don’t worry, you won’t be missing out on anything!
I can’t log-in with the username and password I received. What should I do?
Go to the Spark sign in page and click “forgot password”. Follow the instructions to reset your password. If this does not work, we will help you once you arrive.
Should I create a Spark account if I didn’t receive an email?
No. If you did not receive an email, we will help you access your account once you arrive.
Note: If you and another person signed-up for NOAC using the same email address, we could only create one Spark account. You will need to provide us with a different email address so we can create a second account for you.
Do I need a smartphone to play?
Nope!
I won’t have a smartphone or computer at NOAC. How do I access my account at NOAC?
We will have computers and tablets set up all over NOAC so you can access your account and check your progress.
Do I need access to my email to participate?
Nope!
I can’t log-in with the username and password I received. What should I do?
Go to the Spark log-in page or noac.poken.com and click “forgot password”. Follow the instructions to reset your password. If this does not work, we will help you once you arrive at NOAC.
When I download the app, it asks for access to contacts, calendar, camera, locations etc. Does the app use all of this data?
No. The app will not use any of this data. This is a blanket request that Android devices must ask because the app contains web content.
How will my information be used?
Your information will not be used for the Spark game. Only your contacts will be able to see the information you choose to share with them. Your information will not be sold or used for commercial purposes.
Why is the app rated “17+” in the app store?
The app accesses the internet and therefore Apple requires us to rate it as “17+”. All content in the app is suitable for any age.
Why can’t I access the Twitter account?
In order to view the Twitter account, you need to download the Twitter app and log-in to your Twitter account.
Where do I sign in on the app?
Sign in to your Spark account by clicking on the icon labeled “My Spark”.
Under Settings, there is a button that says “Log-On.” Do I sign in here?
No. All users should sign in to the app by selecting “My Spark”.
How do I get started with my Spark?
Pull the two pieces apart and remove the white tab. Put the tab in a recycling bin and your ready to go!
Can I connect with people straight away?
Yes, you can start using your Spark as soon as you’ve removed the white tab. You know you have successfully connected with someone when you touch another Spark and it glows green.
How do I connect my Spark to my online Account?
Your account has already been connected to your Spark. If you think there is a problem, visit a genius bar on the first day of the conference or the Spark Headquarters any other day of the conference.
How do I create my account?
Your account has already been created. If you can’t access your account, visit a genius bar on the first day of the conference or the Spark Headquarters in Kellogg any other day of the conference.
How do I access my account?
Go to noac2015.org. On the menu bar on the left side of the page, click on “Spark” and then “Sign-in.” Your username is the email you used to sign-up for NOAC. The password is “noac” unless you have changed it.
There is a sticker on my Spark, what do I do?
Visit a Genius bar on the first day of the conference and talk to a Spark team member. Any other day of the conference, you can find a Spark team member at the Spark Headquarters in Kellogg.
The people I connected with don’t appear in my timeline?
Make sure you refresh the page. If this does not work, either you have not properly connected with the other persons Spark or your Spark is not connected to your account.
My Spark doesn’t glow when I touch it to another one. What can I do?
Go to the Spark Headquarters in Kellogg and a Spark team member will help you. Note: Your Spark is not shock or waterproof resistant. Please handle it with care.
My Spark isn’t working on my computer. What can I do?
- Try another USB port.
- Go to an Info Booth and look for a Spark kiosk to sync your Spark.
- Find an MSU computer lab set-up to connect with your Spark.
If my Spark still isn’t working, it may be because:
- Your computer operating settings may not be compatible.
- Your computer security settings won’t allow it to open.
I’ve lost my Spark. What should I do?
Visit the Lost and Found in Kellogg to see if your Spark is in the there. If not, you will need to purchase a replacement spark for $12. You can do this at the Lost and Found. You will receive a recept that must be redeemed at the Spark Headquarters in Kellogg. Your Spark will be replaced there.
I’ve lost my Spark. If someone finds it, can they access my information
No. All your data is encrypted: that means it is very safe. You can simply get a new Spark and later on, sync it with your account.
I’ve found a Spark. What should I do?
Please bring this Spark to the Lost and Found.
What Information can other people see?
When you connect with an individual, they can see all of the information you include in your profile. You can change the information in your profile at any time.
Will my information be used for commercial purposes?
If you check-in to a touchpoint at a vendor booth, they will have access to your contact information and may contact you after the conference. This is only use of your information. If you do not consent to sharing your information with the vendor, do not tap their touchpoint.
How do I get the app?
Download the app from the Google Play or App Store for your Android or iOS tablet or phone.
A requirement I completed is not showing up. What should I do?
Make sure that your Spark connected with the touchpoint. The touchpoint and Spark should glow green, not just blink. If it blinks, it was a bad connection. Try tapping the touchpoint again. You may have to hold your Spark over the touchpoint for a second before it connects.
