Brothers Departing

As the final day of NOAC comes to a close, contingents and staff embark back to their homes. Some will take a side trip to visit friends and others will return to their daily life. No matter what the situation is life will never be the same, for they carry a part of NOAC with them.
Over the many years NOAC has changed to meet the needs of the Order. This year marks the first ever web site to be used at a conference. This is a major mile stone for the Order to help get information to the lodges and contingents coming to NOAC. It is also the first time that people unable to come to NOAC can get a daily update of activities and events.
Each night I found myself recalling the events of the day. I often wondered where the time had gone. I also looked back on the friends I had made and the people I had a chance to work with. The untiring service of the Communications and Public Relations staff was amazing. Every person on the committee was willing to help out in anyway possible. I looked at the Arrowmen who worked for me. They seldom complained about the crazy schedule, while putting out some of the best pages I have seen in my life.
I would like to thank the National Committee of the Order of the Arrow, Conference Chairman Brad Haddock, National Chief Mat Milleson, and National Vice Chief Dave Pertrush for their help and assistance.
I would also like to thank the Communications and Public Relations Conference Vice Chief Lance McAlister, Lead Adviser Bob Szczys, and Web Team Adviser Joe Glenski for this opportunity to chair the Web team. My deepest gratitude goes out to my Team who did everything that could possibly be done to make my job easier.
Thanks to the Activities Staff, Inductions and Ceremonial Events Staff, NOAC Today Staff, Shows Staff, Special Events Staff, Trading Post Staff, Training Staff, and the countless others who helped provide the needed information for this site.
Many thanks to Jason Accola for his vision of this site. He has been a tireless supporter of what this site could be and did become. He has been a strong advocate of Internet use for the OA.
Thanks to all of you out there who gave your support and kind words throughout the week. The Team appreciated it greatly.

Yours in memories and visions,

Adviser's Note:

This day of updates marks the end of the live reports from the 1998 NOAC. The web team has now dispersed back to their homes, and the PC Lab we were using has been shut down.

It has been my pleasure to work with an outstanding group of Arrowmen as we put forth the very first NOAC web site. Over the course of the conference, the members of the team put in countless hours, almost working around the clock, to provide a look at NOAC to those back home. Their dedication and hard work resulted in a most succesful site. They have set a high standard.

As an adviser, one of the most gratifying aspects of this past week was watching the young men on the team. They eagerly tried new equipment, learned new programs, and showed what youth can accomplish. The adult members were also vital to our success, providing strong support, and a willingness to do what was necessary to get our job done.

Finally, I wish to commend our Web Team Chair, Doug Kupec. He accepted his role in late December, and worked unceasingly since then. Doug's leadership enabled us to form a team from people who had never met, and to produce the site every day, despite the difficulties that arose. Through it all, he insisted, "It's the Web Team - I'm just part of it." Doug has been a very big "part of it", leading us to success while making my role much easier.

We appreciate all the messages and comments you have sent to us, and are glad the site has proved useful to you. Enjoy the pages you see here, and stay tuned as the site transitions into the National Order of the Arrow Web Site.
