Founders' Day is the biggest day of NOAC, and boasts some of the best events that the conference has to offer. The day is kicked off with the Founders' Parade, followed by the opening ceremony. Then there are ceremonial reenactments of the first ceremonies preformed by the Order. Then lodges and committees furiously setup their Founders Fair booths, and prepare for the crowds.
The Founders' Fair, held in the Scheman Courtyard, is comprised of booths setup by lodge contingents and Conference Committees. Many booths show off lodge history, and handed out information about their home area. Some booths provided food, and those were among the most popular at the fair. Food booths this year include chicken wings, funnel cakes, hot sauce and other scrumptious creations. The members of the Timmeu Lodge contingent were shucking sweetcorn, cooking it immediately and allowng the participants to eat fresh corn with butter. Another lodge that had chips with freshly made guacamole. Root beer from the Grand Hodag was brought out and distributed to all of the Arrowmen attending the fair.
NOAC Committee provided competition results. The National Order of the Arrow web site booth provided the results to the lodge web site competitions, and had lap top computers available so that they could show off the winning sites. The Special Events Committee handed out individual cube pieces from Tuesday night's cube game to anyone needing one to complete their puzzle. Inside the Scheman building, the first floor contained many corporate booths, including many camping and high adventure companies. The second floor booths were national programs, including National Jamboree, Sea Base, and Northern Tier.
Also at the fair were several inflatable moon-bounce like attractions. They included a slide, bungee-run and the gladiator. These attractions were very popular. Unfortunately, the slip and slide did not make it, but many participants found the wet university grass to be a very good replacement.
After the fair, participants were able to see the finals of the Talent Show. Then Arrowmen were off to supper and the eagerly awaited Theme Show.
Many lodges give away goodies at their booths. Here are some that were passed out:
