Founders' Day Free Stuff

One of the things that Arrowmen enjoy most about Founders'Day is the chance to get lots of "free stuff." Every booth had something special to give a way. From wooden nickels to soil from the ceremony site at Treasure Island; from patches to sunscreen -- each item represents something special to that lodge. Although the free item giveaways were a big hit, nothing ever adds up to the interest in the FOOD!

There were booths with cheese. There was a booth with wieners - and the wiener mobile too. Arrowmen got bottles of  water and snow cones. There were M&M's and lots of other candy as well as potato chips.

Once you filled up on all the free food, the fun didn't stop there. You could go by the Unami Lodge and get a sample of the soil from the ceremony site at Treasure Island Scout Camp.

Sunblock

Or you could get something useful, like a foil pack of sunblock or a package of seeds to take home and plant.  (Hey, you could even use the sunblock while planting the seeds to keep from getting a sunburn while in the garden.)  There were also post-it notes, cards, stickers and maps.

Package of flower seeds

Sports tape

For Arrowmen interested in Chicago sports, one lodge was giving away a Blackhawk's sports video.  And for Scouts more interested in baseball, they also had Cub's stickers.

Cub's sticker

Whatever your interest, there was probably a booth at Founders' Day that was giving away something that you would want to take home.  And judging by the number of full shopping bags carried out by Arrowmen, they found lots of things they liked.  But hey, what's not to like about free stuff?
