Meet the 2011 Northeast Region Chief Travis Cunningham
My name is Travis A. Cunningham, I am 19 years old, and was born and raised in
Warren, PA. I started the Scouting program as a Tiger Cub in the fall of 1998. I
earned my Arrow of Light and crossed over into Boy Scout Troop 22 where I received
my Tenderfoot and Second Class ranks before transferring to Troop 8, my current
troop. I earned my Eagle Scout rank in 2008.
In the spring of 2005, I was inducted into the Gyantwachia Lodge of the Chief
Cornplanter Council. One year later I sealed my membership by becoming a Brotherhood
member. Since that time I have served on the ceremonies and dance team, activities
committee, as high adventure chairman, lodge vice chief and two terms as lodge chief.
In the fall of 2008 I received the Vigil Honor; my Indian name translates as Gray
Fox Running. I was elected Section Chief in the spring 2009 where I served two terms
until I was elected Northeast Region Chief in December of 2010. I have attended
ArrowCorps5, NCLS, SOS, OA Trail Crew, OA Canadian Odyssey, and OA Ocean Adventure.
I have also served on numerous NLS staffs and was a member of the Indian Village
staff at the 2010 National Jamboree.
Outside of Scouting I love to backpack, rock-climb, and kayak. I am currently
attending the Pennsylvania State University where I am majoring in Wildlife and
Fisheries Science. At Penn State I am a brother of Tau Phi Delta, which is a fraternity
for those who love hunting and fishing or just being in the outdoors. I am also
a member of the Penn State Woodsmen’s Team where I compete in lumberjack competitions.
I am truly excited about Indian Summer, and I look forward to meeting all of you!
If you want to know more about me just come and find me, I'll be around.
