Patch Trading: What’s HOT!
The main patch trading site is Gladstein Fieldhouse, where the most serious patch trading occurs after nightly shows. Many Arrowmen were found trading patches with new friends while standing in line or milling around the courtyards. Patch trading methods vary by person — some patch traders look for patches with meaning, while others seek out ones for popularity. A few creative and popular patch designs include: the Magic: the Gathering, Minecraft, and the Dr. Pepper patches.
The only official indoor patch trading location at NOAC 2018 is at the Gladstein Fieldhouse (next to the Assembly Hall where the shows take place). Patch trading indoors, including in the hallways of the Indiana Memorial Union or dorm buildings, is NOT allowed.
Patch Trading at the 2018 NOAC is an official program activity administered by the Activities, Recreation and Competitions (ARC) Committee. The official patch trading activity is limited to registered NOAC participants at specific times during NOAC and is consolidated into designated areas in a monitored environment. Staff for this activity will ensure that patch trading is conducted in accordance with BSA guidelines. Youth-to-adult trading is authorized in the monitored patch trading venues during the specified times only. Youth-to adult-trading is NOT authorized outside of the monitored trading times and venue.
A highlight among patch sets was from Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Lodge; as you reorient their set, it creates a new series of different designs.
There are copious amounts of patch sets around the conference, some of which were specially made for Very Important Arrowmen – you just have to go Seeking for them.
