National Conference Internal Safety
National Conference Internal Safety welcomes you to the conference, and wishes you a pleasant and safe visit in East Lansing. We ask that you review and abide by the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference code of conduct during your stay.
The main National Conference Internal Safety office is located in the Kellogg Conference Center, Culinary Dining Room and is open 24 hours a day. Our phone number is 1-844-MSU-NOAC Ext. 32 (1-844-678-6622 Ext. 32). A satellite office is located at the high adventure tent during program hours. Look for National Conference Internal Safety staff in the bright orange or green caps and tan shirts for assistance.
Enjoy the conference, but please remain alert.
Dorm security: Always lock your room door and never leave belongings unattended. You are responsible for your valuables. We suggest that you lock your room, even if you’ll be back “in just a minute,” or you’re “just visiting a friend in the next room.”
Navigating campus: For your safety it is recommended that you use the buddy system when traveling on campus during your stay. Please use crosswalks and obey pedestrian signals. Keep your eyes on the road when crossing, not on your smartphone. Motorists may not be looking for you stepping out in front of their car. Don’t become a statistic.
Curfew: A reminder that we must all respect quiet time in the dorms. 11:00 pm is scheduled as contingent reflection time. East Lansing has a curfew for youth age 17 and under from 10:00 pm until 6:00 am.
Severe Weather Warning System: In the event of a tornado warning a steady wail siren may sound. If you hear this alarm, seek shelter immediately. All campus buildings have designated shelter areas.
Public address warning speakers are activated in the event of any emergency or serious situation. If you hear these speakers, you should immediately follow their audible directives. NOAC participants can register using the Guest Log-in at http://alert.msu.edu/ to receive phone calls, e-mail messages and SMS text messages in the event of an emergency.
Guidelines for conference shows:
- No video cameras, however flash cameras are ok.
- Entrance to shows is with conference ID, show ticket and Spark device.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the Breslin Student Events Center. Water bottles are allowed.
- Please use proper conduct while in the Breslin Center. No laser pointers, silly string, water guns or any other object that may distract others from viewing the show, or prevent the show from being presented.
Lost & Found items are placed with Administrative Services, located in the Kellogg Center, Lincoln Room (1st Floor). If you have lost an item, swing by and let them know. Found items may be taken there, or given to any National Conference Internal Safety staff.\
Smoking: There is a no smoking rule that applies to all campus buildings. Smoke alarms in the buildings bring a full response by fire and rescue. Please observe all BSA and MSU rules regarding smoking on campus.
Rollerskates, rollerblades and skateboards: Use of these items is permitted only in designated areas!
Helmets: The Guide to Safe Scouting require that all bike riders, skateboarders and rollerbladers wear a helmet while moving about campus.
Drones on campus: Use of drones is prohibited, except by obtaining a permit issued by MSU.
Parking on campus: Free conference guest parking is available in lots 75, 83, 91, and 89. An MSU bus will be providing shuttle services free of charge from these lots to bus stop #1, where the campus shuttle can be used to reach your destination.
REMEMBER, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING UNUSUAL, SAY SOMETHING!
