Information for Professionals

Every few years, some special Order of the Arrow members from around the country have the unique opportunity to gather together for the National Leadership and Conservation Summit (NCLS). This five-day adventure is unlike any other event in Scouting and the Order of the Arrow, and participation is reserved to just OA members that are in key lodge leadership positions and those that will be serving on the staff for the 2008 ArrowCorps5 projects. Summit is not like a National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC). It is a designed to be the staging ground for the release of the new Order of the Arrow Strategic Plan. The Strategic plan is a five-year roadmap for the future direction of the Order of the Arrow. The leadership track of the summit (for those OA members that are the leadership of their local lodges) will take an in-depth look at the five-year goals of the OA and how they can implement them in their local units, chapters, lodges and councils. Another important part of the NCLS is the training of staff for the upcoming 2008 ArrowCorps5 projects. These participants that are on the conservation track will be learning the skills necessary to lead crews of ten to twenty youth and adult Arrowmen at the 2008 ArrowCorps5 projects. NCLS provides a great opportunity for the youth leaders of your OA lodge to learn more about the Order of the Arrow and Scouting. Most of all, the lodge leaders who attend NCLS will return with new knowledge and enthusiasm for the OA and for Boy Scouting. They will be motivated to serve as leaders for your lodge going forward. To better understand a NCLS, take a look at the events and activities participants enjoyed at the 1999 National Leadership Summit.

This website will provide information and tools to help you support your lodge leaders as they prepare for NCLS 2007. In addition to information on reservations and how to apply of staff, you can find promotion flyers, and posters. More information will be added as the Summit plans are developed, so check back from time to time to get the latest details.
