Central Region Chief believes in "The Power of One"
Cincinnati's Michael Beckman represents the Central Region as its 2009 Chief. A Vigil Honor member and former lodge chief of Dan Beard Council's Kuni-eh lodge, Mike has his heart in the Order. Mike is currently enrolled as a sophomore at Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio where he studies graphic design. When Mike's not focused on school, he enjoys working with computers, art, and games.
He is an Eagle Scout with Troop 238 where his dad served as his scoutmaster. Mike served as a chapter chief, chapter vice chief, and section chief (C-4B). He recently completed the Triple Crown, where he attended all three OA High Adventure programs. "It is an amazing and unique experience unlike any in the world," said Beckman.
The "Power of One" in Mike's OA life came when his dad, a friend, and he attended a chapter meeting. There, he volunteered to become the vice chief, catapulting him into higher leadership positions. That one opportunity to make a difference in his chapter had the power to lead him to the role of Central Region Chief. When asked what his definition of the "Power of One" is he responded: "the knowledge that one person can change the world, no matter how small the action." Michael wanted to remind all Arrowmen that this conference.
