Feature Resource: Fundraising Idea Dropbox

As a follow-up to the NOAC Contingent Fundraising Guide, the National Webteam has worked hard to provide an additional resource –the Fundraising Idea Dropbox.

The Fundraising Idea Dropbox is a section of the NOAC Website, event.oa-bsa.org, where Arrowmen can submit a fundraising idea that has been successful in their councils.  As ideas are submitted, they will be added to the NOAC website for other lodges to try.

Feature Program: Craft Zone

Craft ZoneOn Founders Day, American Indian Activities will be presenting "The Craft Zone". Located next to the Founders Day Pow-Wow, Arrowmen will be able to stop by and make a craft they can take home with them. Its fun, it’s educational and the craft kit is free! So take a few minutes out of your busy Founders Day, find a shady spot under a tree and make a memento from NOAC '09, courtesy of your brothers at the American Indian Activities Committee.

Feature Program: Museum

museumAre you into history? Do you want to learn about the history of the Order of the Arrow and Scouting? Then the OA Museum is right up your alley. This year’s museum will showcase six time periods, ranging from the founding and early years of Scouting to the beginning of National Conferences to Scouting today. Exhibits will include artifacts from each era including Scout uniforms and insignia, Baden Powell and Goodman memorabilia, OA sashes, literature, pictures, BSA awards, etc. There will also be a separate room that display’s the history of every Lodge across the nation.

Along the way through the museum, there will be special areas that highlight some of Scouting’s greatest leaders. These special areas will portray individuals such as Lord Baden Powell, William D. Boyce, James E. West, Carroll A. Edson, E. Urner Goodman, George Fiel, Thomas McBride, Carl Marchetti, Ed Pease, Brad Haddock, and one of the latest Lifetime Achievement Award winners, Del Loder. Youth who have had an impact on the Order, such as this year’s National Officers and Conference Vice Chiefs, will also be presented in the museum.

In addition to these exhibits, Arrowmen will have a chance to record their own personal history and put it on display in the museum during the Conference. The purpose of this is to help prepare a more comprehensive history of our Order that can be put on display during the 2015 NOAC, the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow.

On Sunday at NOAC, there will be a reception for recipients of the Founders’ Award at the Museum. Those who have been honored with this prestigious award are invited to join for fellowship and a special viewing of the Museum. Recipients will have a chance to enjoy the exhibits prior to opening to the rest of the Arrowmen.

This year’s museum will be different from those in the past. It will be inspirational, historical, exciting, personal, and interactive. We hope you join us for this incredible experience.

Feature Program: NOAC One

NOAC ONE: yOur traiNing Experience is taking a fresh approach at getting you the information you need! For those of you familiar with previous NOACs, you might expect (3) 50 minute cells. Well, those days are over! We are offering (2) 75 minute sessions each morning so you can get all the information, and still have time to ask questions. We will be offering great sessions from 8 different training schools for you to choose from, and of course, ONE will be hosting the National Council of Chiefs!

  • School of OA Traditions
  • School of Tools
  • School of Vision
  • School of Planning
  • School of Innovation
  • School of Service
  • School of Leadership
  • Arrowman Conservation School

We are particularly stoked for the activities the School of Innovation is offering in the afternoon. These include, among other exciting events, a Media Blitz and a Film Festival!

The boys here at The ONE Committee have the tools you need with plenty of  opportunities for you to grab them! So bring your pencils, (but most importantly, yourself!) to The ONE program that will give you the knowledge to make it happen back at home and truly embrace the POWER OF ONE!

Feature Program: Activities and Recreation

The Activities and Recreation Committee, also known as ARC, is responsible for keeping Arrowmen busy during NOAC. Don't miss your chance to participate in a massive inter-regional dodgeball game, the traditional HODAG festival, the Golf tournament, or to soak your National Officers in a dunk tank! ARC will emphasize The Power of One with a food drive and other service opportunities to keep Arrowmen ever-mindful of their pledge to cheerful service. This will include partnering with local organizations like Habitat for Humanity to ensure that we give back to Bloomington. We are exploring new ways to incorporate technology into our events, and are excited to be hosting a Nintendo Wii tournament for the first time ever during the conference. Whatever you enjoy, ARC is sure to bring it to NOAC!

Feature Program: Induction and Ceremonial Events
Ceremonies is going back to the future this year by continuing with the evaluation phase of our program but as an added incentive this year we are going to go back to a competition platform for all teams who are evaluated, so we can provide education and fun for all participating and hopefully we will continue to do so in the future.
