VIA Luncheons Inspires Leaders of Tomorrow

National Committeemen are ready to serve the participants at the VIA LuncheonAt NOAC, the Special Events Committee sponsors Very Important Arrowmen (VIA) Luncheons to inspire our lodges' current and future leaders.  Each lodge sends their lodge chief and the youngest Arrowman in their contingent to the luncheon where they are served food by and then dine with national officers, members of the National Order of the Arrow Committee, and and maybe even Chief Scout Executive Roy L. Williams. Through the course of the events, Arrowmen have the opportunity to talk with and learn from the men who lead the Order on a national level. Over 300 lodges at the conference participated in the events requiring two separate luncheons.

At the luncheon, National Vice Chief Chris Schildknecht led the participants in the OA Obligation and then spoke about the necessity for the Order to give back to our world.   He also introduced the 2008 national program of interest, ArrowCorps5. National Chief Sean Murray gave an in depth presentation on the three OA high adventure programs:  OA Trail Crew at Philmont, Wilderness Voyage at Northern Tier, and the OA Ocean Adventure at the Florida Sea Base. The conservation conducted in the OA high adventure programs demonstrates how the Order gives back to the environment.

The VIA Luncheon is an excellent way for the present and future leaders of the Order to meet, and talk about the direction of the national organization.  It is an excellent event for young Arrowmen to meet the current national officers, share OA experiences, learn more about the OA, and be inspired by today's OA leaders.
