Arrowmen Meet the National Officers

2006 National Chief Sean Murray answers questionsThe National Officers 'Meet the Man' session was held in the Wilson Auditorium on Sunday afternoon. Meet The Man is an opportunity for any Arrowmen to ask questions of their National Officers that they may not normally get to ask or read in an interview.

The national officers revealed to Arrowmen that they spend most of their time during the summer working.   Their priorities tend to fall to family, then school, then Scouts. Russ Bresnahan, the Central Region Chief,  shared that he has spent a total of 13 days at home since he got out of school in May .

While he said that he'd love to answer simply "Because", it's a bit more complicated than that. He enjoys what he does with the Order of the Arrow.

Here are a couple of the questions asked by Arrowmen while at the conference or submitted from the national OA web site along with answers provided by the national officers.

What advice would you give to future national or region chiefs?

Sean:  "Do the best at your job.  If you are a chapter chief don’t focus on lodge chief. Do a good job as chapter chief and people will notice."

If you could add one point to the Scout Law what would it be?

Dustin:  "It’s a really good set of words," meaning that changes aren't needed.

The Meet the Man sessions are a great way for Arrowmen to be exposed to the leaders of the Order of the Arrow.  Many of the questions give unique insight into issues and the leaders themselves.  National Vice Chief Chris Schildknecht stated at one point in the session, “If [the Order of the Arrow] ever stops being fun, I'll quit. And it hasn't stopped being fun yet"
