Sailing The Shores Of Lake Lansing

Sail BoatsAnother day at NOAC brings another day of high adventure for some lucky Arrowmen here at Michigan State University,  with today's adventure being sailing. Around 40 Arrowmen had the chance this morning to learn how to sail small sail boats off the shores of Lake Lansing. The event was organized by the Camping and High Adventure committee.

The lucky Arrowmen, that were able to take hold of this high adventure opportunity started the day off with swim checks, if they had not already completed one at NOAC. Once the swim checks were complete it was time to leave the campus and head to Lake Lansing. After about a 15 minute drive through the Michigan countryside, the group arrived at Lake Lansing sail boat house. The sail boat instructors then preceded to go over a great deal of information about sail boats quickly in order to make sure the Arrowmen would be able to sail as long as possible. While the instruction was short and sweet it was very serious about safety on the boats.  After about 30 minutes of instruction it was time to get into the boats and hit the open water. Arrowmen Arrive for sailing

Some Arrowmen were a bit nervous about getting into the boat, because for many it was their very first time in a sail boat. After a few minutes on the boat all the butterflies in their stomachs had disappeared and the activity had become pure enjoyment for all. Everyone on the boats was having a great time learning how to operate a small sail boat and experiencing high adventure, NOAC style. A fun part of this experience was that each Arrowmen was given the opportunity to steer their sail boat. Learning to operate a sail boat is just one of the many great opportunities offered here at NOAC and who knows it  may have even sparked a new hobby interest for many of the Arrowmen that participated.
