Where are they Now?
Mike Hoffman

Mike Hoffman was the National Vice Chief in 1985 and has been the NOAC Training Committee Advisor since 1998. Lets find out what is different between then and now:

Bob Hoffman, Now and Then
What is different Now?

The use of technology is probably the biggest difference. Also, since 1985, the Order of the Arrow has introduced two strategic plans, created to direct the Order of the Arrow.  These are great roadmaps, that tell the entire organization the direction the National Committee has charted.  The National Chief and Vice Chief also have more opportunities now; they are involved with high adventure, and with the National Leadership Seminar.

What was different Then?

Then, the National Chief and Vice Chief did not have as many opportunities like NLS and NLATS and the High Adventure programs to impact in a very positive way as many youth.

What did being the National Vice Cheif teach you?

It taught me good communication, to look at the big picture, and the value of a great youth/advisor relationship and what can be learned from that.

Is being the National Vice Chief harder today then when you were in office?

The chief has to do more things, he is a member of many committees, and is gone almost every weekend to visit different places. The responsiblity to represent the Order is just as large, but the organization demands more time now.

What was different then?

It is no harder, because of the ultra supportive National OA committee.
