Moving In at NOAC 2004

The leader knows the way.Today, at approximately 8 A.M. CST, the big move began. Over 5,000 participants, in addition to over 1,000 staff members, descended on Iowa State University. Some flew in Friday, staying in a local hotel or camping out. Others arrived in cars or buses. Many participants described their journey as long, but worth it in the end. “The plane ride was a bit bumpy, but we made it!” exclaimed an excited Arrowmen as he jumped out of the transport van from the Des Monies airport.

Lining up for keysOnce they arrived, the business of the day was getting registered. Then it was time to move into the dorms. Where do we go? The contingent leaders had the directions. They also had the keys and meal tickets to distribute, and dorm procedures to discuss. Then it was time for the participants to grab their gear and head for their NOAC home away from home.

Where's the elevator. Some participants had lots of luggage, others had done a better job of packing and didn't have quite so much gear to haul to the rooms. Those arrowmen with lots of gear were hoping for elevators. As one Arrowman said, "Moving in was a piece of cake. We didn't have to set up tents!"
