Ceremony Evaluations

A lodge ceremony team

At every NOAC inter-lodge competitions and evaluations are one of the main draws for participants, this NOAC is no different. One of the most popular evaluations is the Ceremonies Evaluations.

Ceremony Evaluations are held at NOAC to help lodge ceremony teams improve the quality of their performance. Ceremonies are performed before expert evaluators, other teams and an audience of NOAC participants. This allows team members the opportunity to see other stylistic variations of the ceremonies. During the evaluation process, attention was paid to regalia, memorization, diction and movement. The evaluators provided constructive criticism to the ceremony team members, therefore raising the standard of the ceremonies.

In addition to the comments made by the evaluators, other teams and spectators were encouraged to provide helpful hints and suggestions. Participants seemed to find both the training and evaluations to be very helpful. One team commented that they were sure that having been evaluated at NOAC would mean better ceremonies for their lodge.

Revised 7/30/02.
