The MOST Competition

Today at the MOST Competition, Arrowmen practiced some moves that may one day lead to a Heisman trophy: throwing a football the MOST.  The competition is based on an Arrowman's athletic prowess and skills.

Weston, chair of the MOST Competition and W-5A Section Chief, gave us his impression of the competition.

" The MOST Competition is designed for individual athletic competition, which is a lot of fun, so we encourage everyone to come out. We saw the need for this type of competition to break up the team sporting events."

The MOST Competition is broken up into four main age groups:

• 14 and Under
• 14-17
• 18-20
• 21 and Over

Each age bracket has a winner who will be awarded a ribbon of achievement. There is also an overall winner for the competition, which is determined by the person (from any age group) that threw the football the longest distance.

Brian, 17 years old from Pontiac, Michigan-based Chippewa Lodge #29, gave a description of what he thought of MOST after he demonstrated his technique.

" 'Heated' Individual competition, a nice change from the usual team sports... Oh, by the way... Chippewa 29 is the best!"

Martin, 44 from Ahoalan-Nachpikin Lodge #558 hailing from Memphis, Tennessee told of his experience after his time on the MOST gridiron.

"I enjoyed it. I found out about the competitions at the Post-Show sign up in the fieldhouse. I'm just sorry I didn't find out about it sooner."

Aaron, 22, from Rochester Minnesota's Blue Ox Lodge #26, whom is on the Competition and Recreation Staff, gave his impressions of the MOST competition.

" It's great to see Arrowmen from all over, coming together and having some friendly competition here at IU under the sun."

The results for this competition are as follows:

• 14 and under: Taylor - Chattahoochee Lodge # 204

• 14-17:   Steve - Chippewa Lodge# 29

• 18-20:   Mitch - Tutelo Lodge# 161

• 21+:   Lloyd - Coosa Lodge# 50

And the overall winner is.....
Mitch from Tutelo Lodge #161.

Other competitions for the week will include, baseball pitching on Monday and a golf skills challenge on Tuesday.
