Red Arrow Awards

The Red Arrow Award is presented by the National Order of the Arrow Committee for distinguished service to the Order by either non-Scouters or Scouters who are not members of the Order. This service may take many forms and should involve a significant period of time, as opposed to a single event. A limited number of awards are presented to those whose accomplishments are of the highest order. This year, four recipients were honored at the History and Recognitions Show.

Carolyn A. BartlettCarolyn A. Bartlett

Carolyn A. Bartlett, of Middleton, Ohio has unselfishly given her talents and vast knowledge as an instructor of Native American Crafts and Dancing at numerous section conclaves in different regions. In addition, she also has taught classes at every NOAC since 1994. Carolyn has been a three-time member of the National Pow Wow Committee and has worked with the Msi Kah Mi Qui organization. At home, Carolyn has served her unit as a committee member and has greatly served her community through her work with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, the Special Olympics, and the Contemporary America Theatre Company.

Carolyn TolerCarolyn Toler

Carolyn Toler, of Irving, Texas has been employed at the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America for over 10 years in the Order of the Arrow office. She is the Recognitions Clerk for the Order and is responsible for fulfilling all of the requests by the lodges for Vigil Honors, Founder’s Awards, and all other recognition items. If you have ever called the National Office, chances are that you have spoken to Carolyn or Judy Kolb. Through her constant, cheerful responsiveness to the needs of lodges around the country, Carolyn’s service has been crucial to the success of the Order.

Daniel (Drew) A. NorrisDaniel "Drew" A. Norris

Daniel "Drew" A. Norris has helped this conference, as well as the 1990 and 1996 NOAC’s, by serving as the Indiana University Coordinator. A resident of Bloomington, Indiana, Drew has shown time and again his commitment to the conferences’ success, often going above and beyond the calls of his job. Through his cheerful, helpful and always professional demeanor, Drew has worked to make Arrowman feel at home in Bloomington. The constant success of NOAC’s here is due in large part to Drew’s commitment to the Order.

Michael W. SchwandtMichael W. Schwandt

Michael W. Schwandt, of Bloomington, Indiana, has been the lighting design director for National OA Shows since 1990. Although not in Scouting, Michael has been instrumental in the overall success of OA Shows and the committee’s ability to deliver the message of Scouting. His nomination said he has gone well beyond his obligation to share, teach, educate, and enlighten Scouts and Scouters. Michael has served on the staff of six NOAC’s and on the staff of two National BSA Jamborees.
