Introduction
The goal of the 2002 NOAC Ceremony Team Evaluations is to
improve ceremonial performances and to maximize the quality
of the Induction experience. Since the purpose of these
evaluations is purely educational, there is no need for
teams to be highly experienced to participate.
Inexperienced
teams should benefit significantly from participating in
the evaluations. Experienced teams will be able to improve
their performances as well by their association with the
best teams in the country.
Evaluations will be held for Call-Out, Pre-Ordeal,
Brotherhood, and Vigil ceremony teams.

General Guidelines
The following general guidelines apply to all ceremony evaluations:
- All ceremony team members must be from the same lodge.
Ceremonialists may perform with only one team per ceremony
category; however, they may perform in more than one
category (i.e. a ceremonialist may perform on a Call-Out
and Pre-Ordeal team, but may not perform on two Pre-Ordeal teams).
- All participants MUST be under 21 years of age on
July 27, 2002 and be a member of the lodge entering the
Ceremony Team Evaluation.
- Lodges can enter as many ceremony teams as they wish in
all ceremonies as scheduling permits.
- In accordance with the policies of the National Order
of the Arrow Committee, the use of face and body paint is
prohibited at all Ceremony Team Evaluations. The use of
face or body skin coloring, or wigs in simulation of ethnic
traits is also not acceptable.
- All ceremonial parts should be fully memorized.
- All participants must wear appropriate American
Indian style dress. The American Indian Activities staff
will assist teams by critiquing the appropriateness of
their outfits during the evaluation session. Dress will
be evaluated as a part of the performance evaluation. Teams
are reminded not to show any disrespect, carelessness,
or gross inappropriateness in American Indian dress.
- Ceremonial teams will be required to provide whatever
props they need to make their ceremony performance as
realistic as possible. Extra people may be used to enhance
a performance, such as: drummers, candidates, elangomats, etc.
The staff will provide markers to indicate the locations
of the central fire and fire pots in the performance area.
A heavy burden will be provided for the Brotherhood ceremony.
No other props or materials will be provided.
- If you have questions about Evaluations, contact Terry
Honan, Lead Adviser for Inductions & Ceremonial Events,
by E-mail at honan@aol.com.

Registration
All ceremony teams members should pre-register by signing up for
ceremony evaluations on the "Individual Registration
Form".
All ceremonial teams MUST check-in on Saturday when their lodge
contingent registers at the NOAC. An Inductions and Ceremonial
Events desk will be set-up in the conference registration area
on Saturday, July 27, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Ceremony teams will
need to verify their performance schedule and verify the name
of each team member. Last minute changes may be available, but
will SLOW the contingent registration process. Please make
every effort to ensure that all members are registered for
ceremony evaluations on the pre-registration form.
Ceremonial teams that do not check-in upon arrival may be
replaced in the schedule by teams on the waiting list.
Only pre-registered ceremony teams will be guaranteed a place
in the Ceremony Team Evaluation.
Teams that have not pre-registered but would like to participate
MUST check-in during their lodge contingent
registration on
Saturday at the Inductions and Ceremonial Events desk. Teams
may register on a first-come-first-served basis and may be
turned away due to space, time, and staffing constraints.
