Benefits of NOAC

As you promote the conference to your lodge membership and plan the details for your lodge's involvement in conference activities, keep in mind the many benefits that are likely to accrue for your lodge and its members. Lodge members will return home with:

• A deeper understanding of the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Order of the Arrow Obligation, and what it means to "live" these words in one's daily life.
• A renewed spirit, pride, and enthusiasm for Scouting and the Order of the Arrow.
• Ideas their lodge can use to better serve Scouting in their home unit and council.
• New program ideas, knowledge, and skills to improve the lodge.
• Increased leadership skills and a better understanding of how to carry out the work of the lodge.
• The latest information on camping and high- adventure programming, including how to successfully promote Boy Scout camping.
• New friendships with fellow Arrowmen from throughout the country.
• Memories to last a lifetime.

Arrival Date

All lodge contingents will be assigned arrival times for Saturday, July 29. (For the first time, NOAC will be a six-day conference and will not include an early arrival day.)

Attendance

All Arrowmen who are registered members of the Boy Scouts of America and have their council's approval, are eligible to participate in the 2000 national conference.

All participants must register as a member of a lodge contingent or be a member of the conference support staff.

Lodges are expected to provide every opportunity for persons under the age of 21 to attend. Adult participation should be approved on the basis of need to provide responsible leadership supervision for the lodge contingent. Every lodge contingent must have two-deep adult leadership.

Conference Fee

The conference fee is $280.00 for youth and adult members who pay their total conference fee by June 1, 2000 (postmark date). Conference fees paid after June 1, 2000, will be $330.00 for youth and adult members. The fee includes five night's housing, 14 meals, program and support materials, and recognition items during the six-day conference. The fee is payable in the following manner:

To secure the youth and adult spaces desired, each lodge must complete the Lodge Contingent Reservation Form accompanied with a nonrefundable $100.00 per-participant reservation deposit. No individual reservations will be accepted. All lodge reservations must be transmitted through the local council office and accompanied by a transmittal form.

A lodge reservation form and fees deposit must be received before the lodge is placed on the conference mailing list.

Full payment of all NOAC participant fees must be received by the OA director by June 30, 2000.

Encourage adult Arrowmen in your lodge to establish a special fund to help youth members attend and share in the conference spirit. Your lodge and Scouting will benefit for years to come.

Reservation Quota

For the 2000 NOAC, each lodge will be allowed 10 delegates plus 1.25 percent of the lodge's December 31, 1998, year-end charter membership (10 + 1.25% of a lodge's 12/31/98 charter membership = lodge reservation quota). A council with multiple lodges will be allowed 10 delegates plus 1.25 percent of all their lodges' December 31, 1998, year-end charter membership. Numbers will round up. The ratio of youth reservations to adult reservations has been set at 2 to 1.

All lodges will have until March 1, 2000 (postmark date) to use their allotted number of youth and adult reservations. Reservations not used by March 1, 2000, will be released to other lodges on a first-come, first- served basis only.

Cancellation & Refunds

The $100.00 per-person deposit is transferable to a substitute within the same lodge on a one-for-one basis, but it is nonrefundable, and may not be applied to the balance due for another person. Deposits may only be transferred from youth to youth or from adult to adult.

Youth / Adult Ages

For fee and ratio purposes, a youth member must be under 21 years of age during the entire conference.

For housing, travel, and youth protection purposes, youth are under 18 years of age.

Special Golf Shirt

The Key 3 of your lodge will receive an attractive golf shirt with the 2000 national conference logo on the left breast if they attend the 2000 NOAC with at least 10 additional Arrowmen from your lodge.

Adviser Guidebook

A Contingent Adviser Guidebook and Program Participation Packet will be sent through their council office to all lodges that have confirmed reservations after March 1, 2000.

The program participation packet will include lodge activity reservation forms, which will be developed by the section chiefs during the national planning meeting on Dec. 27-30, 1999. Individual registration forms and materials will also be included in the packet.
